High-THC Cannabis & Mental Health Journal Club May 2026

Join us for an upcoming journal club where we will examine a recent systematic review from Annals of Internal Medicine: “High-Concentration Δ9-THC Cannabis Products and Mental Health Outcomes”

This review synthesizes 99 studies (n=221,097 participants) and explores associations between high-THC products and outcomes including:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Psychosis / schizophrenia

  • Cannabis use disorder

Key themes we’ll discuss:

  • The consistent signal: stronger associations with psychosis and CUD

  • The paradox: therapeutic vs. non-therapeutic contexts

  • The problem of bias, heterogeneity, and real-world translation

  • What “high potency” actually means—and whether that definition holds up
