Ms. Simon’s career has included pre- and post-marketing epidemiologic strategic guidance to academics, pharma, and regulatory bodies. She has designed real-world studies to evaluate health outcomes, patient experience, safety-related outcomes, and economic evaluations. Ms. Simon works with academic centers worldwide to implement studies that use observational and patient experience data to detect, quantify, and characterize safety signals that are used to inform the benefits and risks of medicines.

Highlighting her skills in clinical research, Ms. Simon’s strategic and methodologic input and innovation in real-world evidence generation has resulted in regulatory approval in the United States and European Union for products for cardiovascular and immunological conditions. She is skilled at designing and implementing global and local regulatory driven post-marketing commitments. She’s had various leadership roles involving the review and interpretation of data from robust pre- and post-marketing epidemiology studies, which included summarizing report results to health authorities. Ms. Simon excels in ensuring communication of safety data to broader teams and the relevant external communities. She has a proven track record of successfully overseeing all epidemiology budget-related items for all marketing products (E.g., studies N=20-25 yearly; Budget $25-35 million).

Simon holds a graduate-level medical cannabis certificate from Jefferson University, and she is currently collaborating with the PRC+ physician research network to advance science, including education on cannabis and psychedelic treatments.

Simon is a connector with a passion for providing clear and concise information to patients, healthcare providers, and our youth.

MEET JAHAN

Jahan Marcu, Ph.D., is one of the top researchers and industry experts in the field of cannabis, contributing to many innovative discoveries, applications, and standards for medical cannabis and its laboratory analysis, cultivation, manufacturing, and dispensing. Dr. Marcu has also created training for the industry and internationally accepted methods for cannabis analysis and has founded institutions and organizations for research, education, and training programs.

He became well-known for demonstrating synergistic interactions for cannabinoids such as THC and CBD in cancer, which has led to the development and marketing of products with those ratios and launched numerous applications and research projects. He helped create the first product standards for cannabis and hemp products, as a chairman of the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) cannabis committee. Those standards are now being reviewed by ASTM, where he was accepted as a chairman of D37.07 for the committee on cannabis standards for training, certification, and accreditation. Dr. Marcu’s additional work includes helping to solve the structure of cannabinoid receptors, characterizing a class of drugs for cannabinoid receptors called allosteric modulators (CBD being the most popular), and publishing the first product safety study on CBD products.

He is also an author of the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia Cannabis monograph, which helps set standards for cannabis and hemp products for human consumption. His test methods have received national media attention and have been interviewed by Science and Nature for his contributions to basic research and applied innovations. His studies have been covered by numerous cannabis industry journals and national media outlets. His work has received praise and used by regulators, policymakers, and scientists, to address an urgent national need. His research and standards documents are often cited in regulations and used to develop medical cannabis programs.
